Step on board a living reminder of the Golden Age of Steam this summer!

The volunteers at Steamship Shieldhall, based in Southampton, are looking forward to staging a number of sailings during the summer holidays, including a must-see Jazz Cruise with Chris Dean (leader of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra) on Saturday 18 July and a shanty cruise with the Steam Town Shanty Crew on Sunday 19th July. Shieldhall - a member of the National Historic Fleet - will spend time in Poole in August. On Saturday 15th August, departing Poole Quay, Shieldhall will explore the Jurassic Coast as far as St. Aldhem’s Head, with the excellent Wareham Whalers on board providing shanty entertainment as she heads back to port.

On Sunday 16th August Shieldhall will head east to view The Needles, passing the Old Harry Rocks en route, this time with the Dorset Mutineers on board. Shieldhall then returns to Southampton on Monday 17th August, where she continues her summer programme of sailings. Late summer holiday highlights include a 'Liners Day' sailing with the Ocean Liner Society on Sat 22 August, when Shieldhall will pass four departing cruise ships, and a cruise (this time heading west from Southampton!) to the Needles, passing the New Forest Coast en route.

On all cruises, guests have the opportunity of visiting Shieldhall’s impressive Engine and Boiler Rooms; to meet the Captain on the Bridge; walk the teak decks and listen to an informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and the Solent. A wide range of refreshments is available on board. Children will have fun exploring Shieldhall with a free Children's Passport, and collecting stickers from various stations onboard. When in Southampton, free parking is available close to the Shieldhall berth in the Western Docks.

• Week 5 and 6 prize

  Family ticket, (a family ticket is 2 adults and 2 children up to 15 years), Portsmouth Harbour Cruise, Sun 6 September, 12.30pm - 6pm

• Winners drawn on 17 August and 31 August 2026

  Family ticket, (a family ticket is 2 adults and 2 children up to 15 years), Portsmouth Harbour Cruise, Sun 6 September, 12.30pm - 6pm, Sun 10 August 12.30am - 6pm

This will be valid for two adults and up to two children aged 3-15 years.

The prize is on the day of the winning cruise only.

Tickets are non-refundable and can only be used by the competition winner.

All prizes are non-transferrable and no cash alternative will be offered.

Joining instructions will be forwarded to the prize winner no later than one week ahead of the sailing.
