Calling choral voices for Carmarthen to unite.
More Information (Nation Player is not responsible for external websites)
Choral voices of Carmarthen will unite in a glorious celebration of Evensong at Christ Church in October.
Singers from across the local ministry area (LMA) are planning a ‘Come & Sing’ where vocalists can come together to raise their voices without the need for hours of practice and preparation.
All music is provided and there will be one short rehearsal on the day, just before the Evensong service begins. The music will include Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis in B flat – Charles Villiers Stanford and ‘Holy is the true light’ – William Harris.
The idea behind the ‘Come & Sing’ on Sunday October 1st, is to put the churches in touch with local singers who may not currently sing regularly in a choir but who might be interested in being part of a LMA choral group producing exquisite music.
This search for singers also fits perfectly with plans to create a strong assembly of vocalists to take the lead in strengthening choral worship, liturgy, and musical life of St Peter’s Church. This in turn is part of an exciting new vision for St Peter’s which includes ambitious proposals for the building which are due to be unveiled in the coming months.
Organiser Glynis Morris said: “The Come & Sing provides the chance to meet up with others to sing at a traditional Evensong without extensive rehearsals beforehand, there will be just one relatively short rehearsal on the day followed by the service itself.”
Anyone interested should contact lmachoir1@gmail.com by September 25th to register. Singers are invited to come along for the rehearsal at 3.30pm and there will be a short break before the Evensong begins at 5.15pm All non-singers are invited to attend the service and enjoy the music.
