Food safety is essential for anyone who works with food. This accredited course provides learners with the knowledge and understanding needed to handle food safely and help prevent food contamination and foodborne illness.
The course is suitable for anyone working, or planning to work, in a catering or food-handling environment, including chefs, kitchen staff, catering assistants, food handlers, hospitality staff and volunteers involved in food preparation or service.
What you will learn
The course covers key food safety principles, including:
The importance of good food hygiene practices
Personal hygiene and fitness to work
Preventing food contamination
Safe food storage
Temperature control and the safe handling of food
Food poisoning and foodborne illness
Cleaning and disinfection
Pest control
Food safety legislation and responsibilities
Safe working practices when preparing, handling and serving food
Qualification
Successful learners will achieve the Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF), subject to meeting the qualification and assessment requirements.
No previous food safety qualification is required.
Learners must attend the full course and meet the required assessment criteria to achieve the qualification.
The course is delivered by Pinnacle Workforce Training Ltd, a Highfield Approved Centre.
